Autumn first-year students How to register for orientation

Reserving your orientation program

Orientation registration is open only to students who've been mailed an invitation. Invitations are sent only to students who've paid the acceptance fee.

Check your program dates

Students from different majors participate in orientation programs at different times. Before you register, check the available orientation dates for your program of study. If none of the listed dates for your program fit your schedule, let us know as soon as possible. If you decide to change your major, let us know before you register for orientation.

Activate your Ohio State username

If you haven't already, activate your Ohio State username at my.osu.edu. Just click "Activate Now" and follow the instructions.

While you're at it, be sure to set up your Buckeyemail account (your university email account) and register for BuckeyePass (Ohio State's two-factor authentication system) too!

If you need help with any of these steps, contact the IT Service Desk at 614-688-HELP or 8help@osu.edu.

Review the orientation prep checklist

You might need to take a placement test or have some transfer credit evaluated before your orientation program. Take a look at the orientation prep checklist before you register and plan accordingly.

Reserve your orientation date

Reserve the earliest available date that fits your schedule. You'll schedule for classes at orientation — the earlier you're able to participate, the more flexibility you'll have! Heads up: Rescheduling may be difficult, so be sure you can attend on the dates you choose. (Remember, you're required to attend all sessions on Day One and Day Two.)
