Your orientation program will run for two days — in person and on campus!

Check out a sample schedule below. Remember: Actual times may vary and are subject to change.

If you need to make travel arrangements for orientation, you should plan on being on campus until 3 p.m. on Day Two.

Day One

Autumn first-year students orientation program schedule - Day 1

8-9:15 a.m.	Students; families	Resource Fair: Learn about the Student Wellness Center, Monda Student Resource Center, tri-service ROTC representatives, Student Health Insurance, Student Health Services, Student Legal Services, Dining Services, Housing and Residence Education (including a model suite!), University Interfaith Council, International Affairs, Military and Veterans Services, Tech Hub, Traffic and Transportation Management, Huntington Bank and Barnes & Noble).
9:30 a.m.	Students; families	Opening session: This is your official start to your two-day orientation program! You'll learn more about the incoming class of 2026, what to expect during orientation and how to prepare for the transition to the college classroom. Please note: Seating begins at 9 a.m. when the building opens. Students and their guests will be seated separately during this session, so make sure everyone has their own materials and belongings when entering the auditorium. No food or beverages will be allowed inside the auditorium.
10:45 a.m.	Students; families	Life outside the classroom: An overview of college life beyond the classroom and the resources available to help you succeed. Learn about campus safety, navigating campus, wellness, Ohio State's culture of care and more!
11:45 a.m.	Students	Peer leader small group 1: Meet other new students, connect with your FYE Peer Leader, and learn more about campus. Lunch is included, so don't forget your meal card!
11:55 a.m.	Families	Family luncheon: Remember to bring your meal ticket! (Lunch can also be purchased on-site by card.)
1:30 p.m.	Families	Introductions to Parent and Family Relations:
1:45 or 2 p.m.	Families	Residential experience sessions: Through separate sessions for commuting students and their families and for students living in the residence halls and their families, you’ll learn more about the resources and services to set you up for success!
2:45 p.m.	families	College transitions: Family Matters Members of the university community talk about the transition to college, academic support services, and ways family members and the university support new students.
3 p.m.	Students	Peer leader small group 2 : Join FYE Peer Leaders and fellow students to discuss campus resources, transitioning to university life and Ohio State traditions.
4 p.m.	Students; families	Intercollegiate athletics session: Required SASSO session for grant-in-aid and recruited walk-on student athletes. Morrill Scholarship Program: Required session for recipients of the Morrill Scholarship. University Honors Program: For students accepted into the University Honors Program and their guests. Meet fellow students and learn more about academic expectations and getting involved. (Selected dates only) Young Scholars Program Required session for recipients of the Young Scholars Program Scholarship and Say Yes! Cleveland Scholarship. Placement testing: Haven't completed math or language (Spanish, French, German) placement testing? Have an incomplete testing to-do list item in BuckeyeLink? Arrange a test today! Test in the Testing Office during this time Follow instructions in your Buckeye Link to-do list Need a placement test for any other language? Follow the instructions in your Buckeye Link to-do list to take your test remotely at your convenience Calculus advising with math faculty: First come, first served. Optional for students with credit for MATH 1151 (Calculus I) or higher thorough AP, A-Level, or dual enrollment courses. Get help from faculty with the selection of calculus courses, including honors courses. If interested in this opportunity, complete a short questionnaire to determine whether this session is a good fit for you. Buckeye Link Basics: Learn more about all of the aspects of conducting the business of being a Buckeye — including financial aid, statements of account, tuition option payment plans and more! Reserve Officer Training Corps: Discover more about ROTC programs, services and scholarships. First Year Insights: Peer Leader perspectives: Hear from a panel of FYE Peer Leaders as they reflect on their transition to college, share tips for success and answer your questions
5 p.m.	Families	About the evening of day one: While students spend time with their peers, we invite family members and other supporters to connect with each other and get to know the Columbus community at one of our favorite nearby restaurants. At the end of evening activities, families and supporters can reconnect with students at 8:45 p.m. (if the students aren’t spending the night on campus).
5 p.m.	Students	Dinner available: Meal cards and credit cards accepted. Dining solo? Join other students for a group meal after grabbing your food.
6:30 p.m.	Students	Get involved session: A preview of some of the ways you can get connected to Ohio State by getting involved with the campus community, including a panel of current students sharing their thoughts on everything from the best student orgs, coolest campus events and best study spots around campus!
7:30 p.m.	Students	Peer leader small group 3: Join the Peer Leaders and fellow students to discuss campus resources, transitioning to university life and Ohio State traditions.
Until 10 p.m.	Students	Evening activities: Relax with other new Buckeyes and enjoy a variety of activities.

Day Two

9 a.m.	Students; families	Academic overview and scheduling preparation session: Learn more about your area of study directly from academic advisors. Family members are encouraged to join students for this session. Following this overview session, students will meet with an academic advisor independently throughout the day. Locations for the academic overview sessions are determined by your college or unit of enrollment. (Note: not all academic units meet during each orientation program.)
10:45 a.m.	Students	Academic consultation and course registration: Students will meet independently with an academic advisor and schedule classes for autumn 2025. Refer to the instructions shared by your advis¬ing unit in your 9 a.m. overview session or by email prior to orientation for details about this process for your advising area. Advising and course registration may look different based on advising area. Some may meet one-on-one and others in groups.
10:45 a.m.	Students; families	College supplemental sessions
10:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.	Students; families	Ongoing options: Use this time to discover more resources and take care of business on campus. The checklist below can help you keep track of what you need to do. Buckeye Link information or drop-in: Counselors are available until 4 p.m. If you have questions about financial aid, your Statement of Account or payment options, find answers with Buckeye Link. Get vaccinated at Student Health Services Learn more about the Wilce Student Health Center’s services — including vaccinations. Routine vaccinations are available in the pharmacy without an appointment. Go to the Patient Registration desk. Vaccination forms and exemptions can be delivered to the front information desk. Learn more at Student Health Services. Finalize your BuckID: Stop by the BuckID office (3040 Ohio Union, south side of the third floor) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. if you need to have your photo taken. If you submitted your photo in advance, you can also stop by BuckID if you have any questions about obtaining your BuckID. Dining Services open house: Join Dining Services for a complimentary snack, exclusive Grubhub promo codes, in person interviews for student positions, and have your final questions answered around Dining on Campus. Family lounge at Thompson Library: Drop in any time between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. between orientation activities to take a moment to relax in the peace of Thompson Library. Learn how the libraries can support your student, write a postcard to your student, answer Ohio State trivia questions and take a self-guided tour of this historic building while capturing a fun family photo at a selfie spot. Enjoy lunch at the Faculty Club Members and their families can take advantage of weekday lunch service, comfortable lounge spaces and signature private club events including football tailgates, holiday brunches and much more. Weekday lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visit your campus bookstore: Students can rent or buy used and new and digital textbooks through The Ohio State University Bookstore. Stop in to learn about employment opportunities, price matching and textbook scholarships. Plus enter to win the Buckeye Welcome pack, including Ohio State lululemon products, residence hall supplies and more! Take care of college banking: Stop by to learn how to make college banking easy and convenient with Huntington Bank. We have two convenient campus branch locations: Ohio State Doan Hall, 410 W. 10th Ave. University North, 1928 N. High St. Talk tech at Tech Hub: Tech Hub is a one-stop shop for all your technology needs! From recommendations on the best laptops and tablets to service and support, we have you covered. Please stop by and discover what Ohio State’s official technology store can do for you. Disability Services: Meet with an SLDS staff member to learn more about our accommodations and services. A welcome meeting covering your specific accommodations will be scheduled after you've applied for and provided documentation for accommodations. Visit Military and Veteran Services: If you’re a military-connected student, stop by to learn more about the many resources available to you. CampusParc information: Student permit sales for the 2026-2027 academic year open in early July. Commuting students are encouraged to stop by the CampusParc Customer Care Office to ask any questions about parking permit options. Pick up safety devices: Stop by Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement to pick up a complimentary personal safety device! Complete your Healthcare Power of Attorney: Student Legal Services will offer Healthcare Power of Attorney (HPOA) drafting sessions at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. An HPOA allows students to designate someone to make medical decisions for them if they are unable to do so which is especially important once students turn 18 and are legally considered adults. Students must attend with a government-issued photo ID, parents are welcome. Mondal Student Resource Center Open House: Drop in between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday to learn more about the essential need resources provided at no cost to Ohio State students. These supplemental services reduce the financial burden of attending secondary education. Programs include the Student Food Pantry, Reid Family Career Closet and personalized linkage to campus and community resources through our Student Support Specialist.

1 p.m.	Students; families	University supplemental sessions: Buckeyes Abroad: We believe global education is for every Buckeye. Join us to learn more about studying abroad and participating in our global education opportunities! Student Wellness Center overview: Join the Student Life Wellness Center for a brief discussion of our services, including an overview of the dimensions of wellness. Learn how to build on your own personal wellness using these free services! Smart Start: Anti-hazing Essentials and College Life Hacks: Join this session to complete your Collin's Law Anti-Hazing Education, the mandatory training required for all students before they can join any student organization. Your friendly Student Conduct staff will also share some quick and valuable tips on avoiding roommate conflicts, reducing risk and harm associated with alcohol and drugs, and maximizing your own safety on and off campus.
